ANIMAC International Animation Film Festival of Catalonia is a not-for-profit cultural event organised by Lleida City Council and supported by the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia and other public and private bodies.
Place and dates
The 22nd ANIMAC Festival will be held in the city of Lleida (Catalonia - Spain) from 22 to 25 February 2018.
6 June to 31 October 2017.
Once registration has been completed and announced, the film cannot be withdrawn.
Films and participants
- A film can be submitted by its national or international distributors, producers and/or filmmakers.
- Each participant can enter a limited number of films, provided they comply with the applicable requisites.
- There are no limits on length or restrictions on the year of production of the film.
- The films, if selected, must be available in a screening copy in any of the following formats: HD QuickTime or mp4 codec h264, BluRay, DCP.
The Shorts 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Little Animac sessions are eligible for the Audience Award for Animac best short and for the Audience Award for Little Animac best short, respectively.
Submission and materials
Submission is free. In order to participate in ANIMAC, you must complete the registration form (online) and send it together with the film.

A minimum of two stills from the film in JPEG or TIFF format must be attached, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
Films in languages other than Catalan or Spanish must include the script in Catalan, Spanish or English in a text document.
The Festival undertakes to use the films submitted exclusively for selection and the materials of the films selected exclusively for screening during the Festival.
The filmmaker, producer or distributor who submits the film declares that they are the copyright owner, and have acquired or make legitimate use of all the contents of the film. The Festival is not responsible for any complaint resulting from a breach of copyright for the public exhibition of films containing protected material.
The ANIMAC management will make the selection following the criteria it considers appropriate. The organisation will announce the selected films on its website on 30 January 2018. Before this date ANIMAC will contact those selected in writing, as the films selected must be sent in the optimum screening format before 3 February 2018.
The images provided can be used to illustrate the different ANIMAC promotional and communication materials (programme, magazine, catalogue, press, website and other media). The organisation undertakes to use the different promotional materials exclusively to promote a film, respecting the conditions provided for on the registration form.
Shipment and return of copies
ANIMAC will assume the costs of shipping and return of the screening copies of the films selected to filmmakers, producers or distributors. Once the Festival is over, the films will be returned. If the copy is to be sent to another festival after ANIMAC, the organisation will not assume the shipping costs. ANIMAC is not responsible for any delay in the return for reasons beyond its control.
The copies sent for registration – both those selected and not selected – will not be returned and will become part of the ANIMAC database and video library and will not be screened in public without the express authorisation of the filmmaker.
The organisation is not responsible for damages to copies for reasons beyond its control.

Participating in ANIMAC implies full acceptance of these conditions.
