The feature film “Buñuel en el Laberinto de las Tortugas” will visit Annecy 2018

The feature film “Buñuel en el Laberinto de las Tortugas” will land at the upcoming edition of Annecy Film Festival right after passing through Animac 2018, where it was featured in a special WIP conference.

Directed by veteran animator Salvador Simó and written by Simó and Eligio Montero, the film is under the helm of Spanish producers Manuel Cristóbal (Sygnatia) and José Fernández de la Vega (The Glow) with the help of Javier Espada as a Buñuel expert. Currently in production, the animated feature is being made in the very same Extremadura where Buñuel shot his documentary “Tierra Sin Pan”, at The Glow Animation studio in Almendralejo.

Director Salvador Simó, Spanish and French producers Manuel Cristóbal and Bruno Felix (Submarine), and art director José Luis Ágreda (The Glow Animation Studio) will be part of a WIP conference that will take place at the Salle Pierre Lamy during 2018’s edition of Annecy Film Festival.

Luis Buñuel is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating filmmakers of film history: not only for his work but also for his biography. Currently in production, the feature film “Buñuel en el Laberinto de las Tortugas” adapts the homonymous graphic novel by Fermín Solís and explores Buñuel’s life and creative process during the shooting of the surrealist documentary “Tierra Sin Pan”, in the Extremaduran region of Las Hurdes. Animac invited the film director Salvador Simó and sound designer Juan Ferro to share with us in detail the creative and logistical struggles that stem from the ongoing film production, both on its visual side and sound aspects.
